Most common problems with your water cooler can be sorted in a series of simple steps, saving you the time and hassle of getting an engineer out. This is designed as a quick guide to help you solve most common issues – it is not an exhaustive list of all possible faults. If you have a problem that isn’t covered in this section, please call our customer care team on 01555 666 438 who will gladly arrange for an engineer to visit you as soon as possible.
All water coolers are fitted with a thermostat which is factory set to dispense water an optimal temperature of between 4°C – 10°C. If the water temperature is too warm or cold, you can adjust the thermostat to suit yaour needs – all you need is a small flat-headed screwdriver. The illustrations below show the locations of the thermostats on our most popular coolers.
Please note: If the thermostat is turned all the way to the max position, it may cause the cooler to freeze up, stopping it from dispensing water. The thermostats are very sensitive – adjust them in small increments and allow up to 30 minutes for the cooler to adjust to the new setting.
This is one of the most common complaints about water coolers, and in the majority of cases, is caused by power leads becoming dislodged from the back of the cooler, or cleaners/janitors removing the plug from the socket.

There are a few common faults that can cause a water cooler to stop dispensing and these will vary depending on the type of cooler you have.
1. Air filter saturated with water – This is normally characterized by the water flow starting off strong then quickly dying away. The air filter is designed to stop airborne contaminants entering the water reservoir inside the cooler. If the filter becomes wet, it stops the flow of air into the cooler which in turn stops the flow of water coming out of the cooler. This is quick and easy to fix:
2. Reservoir iced up – This can happen if the thermostat is turned all the way clockwise to the max position. When the reservoir inside is iced up, you will normally not get any water out when the taps are held down. Please refer to the section above on how to adjust the thermostat.
1. Our plumbed-in crystal mountain coolers come supplied with a safety shut off switch to stop your cooler flooding in the event of a malfunction. It is sometime possible for these switches to trip accidentally, however it only take a few seconds to reset it.
2. Reservoir iced up – This can happen if the thermostat is turned all the way clockwise to the max position. When the reservoir inside is iced up, you will normally not get any water out when the taps are held down. Please refer to the section above on how to adjust the thermostat.
